Portrait Stories was a project for Seniors Week, initiated by North Sydney Council, during my residency at the council Pop-up Art space, 2017.

It resulted in an exhibition 'Portrait Stories' celebrating seniors who have made a positive contribution to the North Sydney community. Nine seniors were nominated by the community to have their portraits painted along side stories written about them, which were exhibited at the InTransit Art Space, North Sydney.

Painting a portrait is an intimate experience, where an exchange of energy between artist and sitter takes place. It was a privilege for me to step into their personal spaces for 3 hours and to hear their stories, share their experiences of lives lived, then to capture them in paint.
